EVALUATIONS FROM JEANNE'S OBEDIENCE AND CONFORMATION CLASSES:

"Jeanne is clearly an experienced dog trainer.  She helped us gain control over our dog Bailey (7 month old female Labrador Retriever) in about fifteen minutes and we felt encouraged that we could practice what she taught us. It was only our first class with her, but due to Jeanne's direction we already feel hope that our puppy can learn to obey us without having to fatten her up with treats." Chris and Emily Kates, Littleton, CO

"Luna is a 13 month old pit bull mix that was 1 day away from being euthanized when I adopted her due to her previous owner not being able to handle her. Although friendly, she was a risk to all. After just 1 hour with Jeanne, Luna was a changed dog, and I was a changed dog owner/guardian." Brian Polan

“I highly recommend Jeanne and her training methods.  Greeter (Doberman) had beginning and advanced, private and group lessons with Jeanne. Cricket (Doberman) has had private lessons with Jeanne.  You wouldn't believe how well they've done.  Jeanne's almost magic (of course, they're great dogs, too, but a bad trainer would make a bad dog!).  I've been through several obedience classes/trainers, and I've found none better.  Go for it!”    Sandi Atkinson, Highlands Ranch, CO

"I am the proud owner of a black and tan dobie named "Bleu" who is one sit away from his CDX, but has his CGC,WAC, CD, and RN, and working on RA.   I recently placed a female with another family that lost two dobies a few months ago.  Her name is Selene, of which Jeanne helped me get her CGC, that was so appreciated!  We had several private training sessions and Jeanne gave me such valuable pointers on what I needed to do to improve my working with her, things I never picked up with any other trainer, and I have worked with almost a dozen through the years.  I felt as a professional she is that, and personally she goes out of her way to help with issues and makes you feel comfortable at the same time!  She is a pleasure to work with. I give her 5 stars." Laurie Lord, Parker, CO

"After spending 6 months training at a local Boulder County Fairgrounds conformation class, we happened upon Jeanne Cook who gladly made herself available for private lessons. We were seeking a rapid improvement in our handling abilities of our English Mastiffs, as upcoming outdoor shows were approaching in a few months. Jeanne has come from a lengthy past of experience with English Mastiffs and more recently Doberman Pinschers. We met weekly for many weeks, where Jeanne was able to share her wealth of knowledge in conformation handling, in perspectives of both the judge and the handler. I would highly recommend anyone to enlist her services for conformation handling training, as she uses a patient, thoughtful method to enlighten both the novice or experienced handler on ways to better display and present their dog." Steve and Dawn Sviat, Longmont, CO

"We started our German Shepherd, Vader, in private lessons with Jeanne when he was about 4 months old.  Prior to training he had learned that commands weren't really commands, they were options.  There's nothing more frustrating than telling your dog to "come" and he just ignores you.  Unfortunately, we had no way to back up the command.  Jeanne taught us the proper way to give commands and Vader learned commands aren't options after all.  We've since been through beginning and advanced group lessons.  The advanced lessons are so much fun for dog and owner.  It's truly amazing to see how smart he is and how much he's capable of learning.  What's even more amazing is to see the possibilities of what he can learn after seeing what Jeanne's dog, Gator, can do!" “I have been looking for a training class for my dogs that would be consistent with the standards of the classes I encountered through the years that conformed more with the AKC requirements for obedience.  After hearing about Jeanne’s beginning obedience classes, I knew I wanted to enroll.  After only two sessions Katie (Lab/Shep) and I are both building confidence, we have begun to make noticeable progress; and week by week she is finding out that she doesn’t have to be an embarrassment to the family.  We are both glad that we were able to connect with Jeanne and her training expertise.”  Judy Collier, Denver, CO

“I recently attended Jeanne Cook’s beginning dog training class.  I was very hesitant as my four-year old male Brittany can’t see other dogs in the park without squealing.  I didn’t think he would excel in class. Jeanne told me she “could fix that” so I decided to enroll.  I am very impressed with Max.  He hasn’t squealed at all!  He’s done well in the lessons.  Now I really think he knows I am the boss and is able to manage very nicely with the other dogs.  I look forward to more classes and feel he is going succeed.  Jeanne is a wonderful trainer and I am happy she persuaded me to try it.” Carol Withers, Westminster, CO

“My son and I attended Jeanne Cook’s Basic Obedience Class with our 6 month old puppy Kaya.  Kaya is a Black Labrador/German Shepherd mix.  Since attending the class and working with Kaya on basic obedience training we have received the following comments about our dog:  “Kaya is the best behaved puppy I have ever met.”  “What a wonderful dog.”  “Jeanette has the best dog.”  It is obvious that we learned a lot about how to train our dog from Jeanne.  I recommend the class for all new puppy owners and for anyone who wants their dog to be a pleasure to be around.”  Jeanette Anderson-Smith, Arvada, Colorado

“We have a one-year old Golden Retriever that we adopted from “Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies”.  Keehna had behavior issues that I needed to address so I enrolled her in Jeanne Cook’s “Beginning Obedience” dog training classes (private and group).  After attending the six-week, one-hour classes, Keehna is more responsive, more focused, and is generally a much more well-balanced dog.  Also, I feel better trained on how to communicate with her in a way that we both understand each other with mutual trust and respect.  It was fun to watch her grow and become more confident.  Thanks, Jeanne!” Alicia Crutcher (and Keehna), Littleton, Colorado

“My two dogs, a 2-1/2 year old Lab and a Westie pup, have been trained by Jeanne Cook both in private and group sessions.  By simply using a training collar, voice command and positive reinforcement, she instructed me how to guide each of them to quickly learn to sit, stay, heel, come, stand for exam and more (Beginning).  As the lessons progressed each learned how to follow these commands off-leash (Advanced).  She resolved my 90-pound Lab's problem of jumping on company by teaching him the down-stay.   Jeanne's training helped my dogs become happier, more confident and well-behaved members of our family.  Her gentle demeanor with dogs is apparent as well as her experienced training methods.  I highly recommend Jeanne.”  Laura Lee Rippe, Arvada, Colorado

"Hi, my name is Pippin and I'm a one year old Sheltie.  My mom enrolled me in Jeanne's Beginning Obedience class last spring.  My first day was pretty exciting.  I was very worried (as some Shelties are) about going into a new place and I wasn't too sure about strangers either.  I barked at Jeanne and tried to put some distance between us.  I thought she was very scary, but after my first day I decided that she was okay.  Now I'm really excited to see her and play with her before class.  I think she's pretty cool. I like doing my obedience lessons and I bug my mom everyday to do them with me.  We practice in the back yard and on long walks.  I like Jeanne's classes (I'm in her Advanced class right now).  There aren't a lot of dogs there so it's not so stimulating and overwhelming.  My mom has trained dogs before, but the small class is good for people and their pups who are new to obedience and dog training.  Mom says she's going to take me to dog shows and show me off when I get really good.  That'll be fun and exciting.  I think….".Love, Pippin (aka Cimarron's Peregrine Took), Loved by Tracy Reed, Wheat Ridge, CO

"I took Jeanne's basic obedience class for our newly-adopted dog, Captain (2-year-old Schipperke mix), whom we got from the Denver Dumb Friends League in February of this year.  When we first adopted Captain, he was very wild in nature (a lot of jumping, barking, pulling at the leash when walking and did not know any basic obedience commands).  After taking Jeanne's 6-week beginner class, Captain was able to learn how to think.  It was amazing!  With each class we took my husband, Sly, & I noticed how much smarter Captain was becoming regarding being an obedient dog.   We also had a HUGE problem with Captain bolting out the front door into the street whenever the door was opened.  Captain also had a huge problem with jumping on my husband, me and the kids whenever he would greet us.  Jeanne taught us how to be good masters when working with Captain on his training.  The result:  Captain knows sit-stay (off leash), down-stay (off leash) and the biggest accomplishment for us is that Captain now knows his name and comes to us when we call him!  Also, Captain bolting out the front door is no longer an issue for us.  Jeanne taught us valuable techniques to curb Captain's running, which has saved his life.  We no longer have the fear of Captain running out the front door into traffic and being struck by a car.  Captain understands that he is a part of our family and he learned to be a thinking dog, which has changed our relationship with him dramatically.  My husband and I feel that we have some control over our dog instead of always feeling like we have a "wild animal" in our house.  And, Captain also loves the attention he receives when he does obey commands.  Jeanne has taught us as masters to give out more petting as rewards versus treats; the petting yields much better results!  He works for praise, which is AWESOME!!

Though Captain has more to learn, the knowledge we gained from Jeanne's class has done wonders for Captain's behavior.  Our friends notice how much calmer and well-behaved he is now compared to when we first got him.  Another HUGE bonus is that Captain knows how to heel properly on the leash, which means NO MORE PULLING!  Captain has learned to walk like a pedigreed dog and he knows it also!  What a great feeling to walk our dog and our mutt is better trained than a pedigreed breed walking nearby!

Jeanne's techniques and strategies can turn the most savage beast into a respectable member of the canine society!Ghandia Johnson, Denver, CO.  Survivor: Thailand, Season 5.
